A distinguished group of Seattle area Rotarians and Scouters have joined together to create the Norwester Youth Fund. The Fund currently serves as the Charter Organization for 140 youth in two Scout Packs and one Troop. The Fund is committed to assisting each unit in its planning, leadership development and recruitment while assuring equity and inclusion by providing Scout membership and camp scholarships so that each aspiring Scout can enjoy Scouting year-round
The Fund supports post-high school youths with its unique scholarship program. Throughout the year it reaches out to community colleges and local high schools to provide individual scholarships and direct grants to the institutions.

Donations to the Norwester Youth Fund will be used to promote scouting in Northeast Seattle, Lake Forest Park, and the Northshore area. The organization is recognized by the state and federal governments as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt private charitable foundation. Donors can deduct contributions they made under IRC Section 170.
Our mission is twofold:
(1) Scouting: to promote scouting, assist scout packs and troops in developing strong leadership, and enabling the scouting units in their development of young boys and girls. Donations to scouting may include scholarships for scouts in financially challenged families, and equipment, training and supplies for our sponsored units. The donations will go to the units as designated by the donor, or if not designated, will be directed by the fund’s Board of Directors.
(2) Scholarship Program: to support deserving local high school with scholarships and to provide community college students with scholarships or to provide direct grants to the school or institution.

Founder and President of Stonemark Capital Properties. Bob leads the Stonemark Landings team and overall execution of its business plan. Bob has nearly 50 years of real estate experience which includes over $1 billion in sales, finance, development, and joint ventures. His experience includes acquisitions, sales, finance, apartment property management, hotel management, land development, single family development, joint ventures and involvement in nearly 10,000 apartment units. Most of Bob’s career has been spent working with development companies, so he is very familiar with the management of construction and renovation of apartment communities. He has held many senior level positions over the years, including being Controller, Vice President-Finance, Vice President-Sales and Marketing and the Managing Member of two successful real estate investment companies. Bob graduated magna cum laude from UCLA with a degree in economics with a focus on business administration, accounting, and mathematics.
Bob was a Member and Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Seattle Northeast to 6/30/2024 – 19 years and now is a member of the Rotary Club of Lake Stevens.

Retired Economist/Supervisory Manager National Marine Fisheries Service
Steve worked on many major fisheries issues facing the country, including phasing out foreign fishing, reducing foreign trade barriers to U.S. fishery products, designing and implementing federal fishery disaster declarations and fishing vessel buyback programs, rebuilding overfished fish stocks, and implementing individual fishing quotas and electronic reporting and monitoring in the West Coast groundfish trawl fisheries. For his work on fisheries disaster relief programs, he received the U.S. Dept of Commerce’s highest award—The Gold Medal.
In retirement he has worked on many projects including Path From Poverty Kenyan Water Wells, Lake City Murals and Lighting, Refugee Artisans Initiative and financial support to local elementary teachers and to college bound high school students.

Retired Pension Actuary, Benefits Consultant and Director of Howard Johnson & Company for 30 years. He served as Treasurer of Calvin Presbyterian Church for 10 years. He currently works part-time in real estate finance with Bob Howe.
John has been active in Scouting, achieved the Life rank, and a parent of two boys that achieved the Eagle rank.

Co-Founder/COO – Metropolitan Music Services – 21 years. Paul’s career in music retail spans 27 years, with particular emphasis in supporting school music programs with instrument, rentals, lessons, and repairs. Paul is an executive producer in the music industry. He also was the co-founder and artistic director of the Seattle Youth Jazz Ensemble – 13 years.
Paul has been involved in scouting as both a scout and as the Cubmaster of Pack 144 and is part of a family spanning 4 generations.
